Specialist Spotlight

Meet Lisa MarcAurele

Hey there! I am one of the co-founders of FDL, but most people know me as a keto

blogger and cookbook author. I could never convert my family to a low-carb eating plan, so I continued cooking my family’s favorite high-carb recipes. That’s why I started Little Bit Recipes, a food blog for folks cooking for just one or two people. I have lived in Southern New England most of my life and worked as an engineer for many years before becoming a successful blogger. Today, I’m sharing all my favorite Thanksgiving things with you.

My Favorite Things

As we approach the season of gratitude and feasting, it's time to set the table for a bountiful Thanksgiving celebration. We've got all the tips, recipes, and kitchen essentials you need to ensure your holiday meal preparations are a breeze.

Favorite Home Comfort Items

Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean that feeling should extend into your home. Here are my favorite items to keep the bad weather where it belongs.

1. Yankee Candle: As a long-time New Englander, I love burning Yankee Candles. Their

warm, inviting scents and soft, flickering glow always make my home more relaxing. Keep your home smelling like a seasonal wonderland by treating yourself to a Yankee Candle, and prepare your senses for Thanksgiving.

2. Electric blanket: Whether I'm browsing the internet, catching up on my favorite shows or simply indulging in a good book, adding a cozy electric blanket to my workspace or couch makes every moment feel like a warm and soothing escape from the brisk weather outside. It's a small luxury that

keeps me comfortable during this time of year. If you also find yourself missing the warm weather, you need this blanket.

3. Space Heater: When I need to stay warm and toasty while moving about the kitchen or working in my office, a space heater is my practical choice. Its efficient, targeted heating provides the comfort I need during this chilly month without the need to heat the entire house. Buy this space heater and keep any room warm.

Warm Drinks

Sipping on a warm drink is an easy way to combat the upcoming chilly days. Choose the right one, and enjoy it all winter long.

1. Apple spice tea: You’ll often find me sipping on apple spice tea on brisk November days because it complements the crispness in the air perfectly. Each sip is a gentle reminder to appreciate the simple pleasures of this time of year. Get yourself some apple spice tea today to warm you up all season long.

2. Chamomile citron tea: When I’m relaxing at home on chilly evenings, I like to brew a small batch of loose-leaf chamomile citron tea in a small infuser teapot. This tea's gentle

chamomile notes and the invigorating touch of citron provide the perfect balance of relaxation and refreshment. Try chamomile citron tea to bring a touch of tranquility to November evenings, making them even more special.

3. Igloo Tumbler: The chill in the air is no match for the insulating power of my Igloo tumbler, and it adds an extra layer of coziness to my outdoor adventures or longer commutes. It's not just a container; it's a companion that ensures my hot drinks and soups stay piping hot wherever I go. No matter where you go, owning your own Igloo Tumbler will ensure your meals and drinks never go cold.

Timeless Television

For many homes, watching TV is an easy way to get the family together that everyone enjoys. Find out why these two classics should be added to your next screening party.

1. "Friends": The Complete Series: Skipping to the Thanksgiving episodes scattered throughout the series is the perfect way to set the mood for holiday gatherings with family and friends. It’s also a great way to pay tribute to Matthew Perry. Discover why

“Friends” is perfect for the season by getting comfy at home watching the complete series.

2. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”: This timeless classic is the perfect way to share a bit of nostalgia and anticipation for Thanksgiving with family members of all ages. Plus, the movie's heartfelt messages of gratitude and friendship will leave your family with a warm and fuzzy feeling just in time for the holiday festivities.

“What if, today, we were grateful for everything?”

— Charlie Brown

Keeping up with Self-care

As the evenings get darker and the nights get colder, taking time for yourself is essential to keeping a sane mind. Here are my favorite self-care items that keep me looking and, more importantly, feeling good.

1. Cozy Pajamas: I love getting new cozy pajamas in the fall, especially since I work from home. There's something incredibly comforting about slipping into soft, warm pajamas as I tackle my daily tasks. It's my way of creating a comfortable and productive atmosphere that helps me stay focused and relaxed during the crisp autumn days. It's the little things, like comfy pajamas, that make November workdays feel all the more enjoyable.

2. Philosophy Ultra-Light Moisturizer: I’m a big fan of this moisturizer, especially as the fall transitions into winter. With the changing seasons, my skin tends to get drier and this moisturizer works wonders in keeping it hydrated and vibrant. It's like a burst of revitalizing freshness that combats the effects of dry skin. Get this moisturizer and leave your skin feeling soft and nourished all season long.

3. Long cardigan: I absolutely love wearing long cardigans during the fall and winter, especially while working from home. These cardigans envelop me in warmth and comfort, like a big, soft hug that lasts all day. They're like a wearable blanket, and I can't get enough of it. This long cardigan is perfect if you are looking for something that works with any outfit while still being comfortable.

Favorite Cookbooks

As a cookbook author, I really appreciate when authors go above and beyond to make sure their book is aesthetically pleasing while also being easy to understand. These two books check all these boxes while also, most importantly, providing delicious meals that are sure to become a part of your Thanksgiving tradition.

The Complete Autumn and Winter Cookbook

Being a foodie, I have a huge collection of cookbooks, but the one I turn to the most during the cooler seasons of New England is

"The Complete Autumn and Winter Cookbook". It has over 550 recipes to enjoy during the chilly months of fall and winter. For those seeking inspiration for gifts or holiday dinners, picking up this cookbook is a no-brainer.

The Perfect Turkey Cookbook

With over 100 mouthwatering recipes, this cookbook gives me so many creative ideas for preparing my family’s Thanksgiving meal.

In fact, we often have a pre-Thanksgiving meal in October just so we can experience two different turkey dinners in the fall. Get your copy today and impress your family and friends this holiday.
